Nando’s has clapped back in the best way they know how after the suspension of the Secretary-General of the African National Congress (ANC), Ace Magashule, and his subsequent “suspension” of President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The South African previously reported that after being issued the letter of suspension on Wednesday 5 May 2021, Magashule referred to it as “fatally flawed”, adding that he is questioning Deputy Secretary-General Jessie Duarte authority on the matter.

Magashule said Duarte had no authority to issue the letter of suspension, citing it as “unconstitutional.”

He further added that he would now “summarily suspend Cyril Ramaphosa as the president of the ANC in full compliance with the relevant conference resolutions”.

This means that Ramaphosa would not be able to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the President of the ANC. He may also not represent the party publically in any forum, and may not make public statements pertaining to party interests.

Nando’s proceeded to create a new meme – which was posted on their Twitter page – where they refer to Ramaphosa as “moreki,” a word which translates to a “buyer”, that ultimately aludes to the fact that Ramaphosa is indeed the buyer of the country.

Of course, the internet – and especially social media users in South Africa – are loving it.

The South African previously reported on Nando’s 15 best adverts, and that’s because their viral campaigns completely dominate the discourse. They’ve tackled everything from xenophobia to state capture Nando’s is known for stirring things up when it comes to their advertisements.

Other memes, includes their take on the various national lockdowns imposed in South Africa, to what feels like ever-lasting loadshedding.
