It’s been said many times that reality TV is not as real as viewers would like to believe. Well, a cast member of Mzansi Magic’s reality show, Mnakwethu, might have just proven this speculation to be true.

Gezani Dludla, who is in desperate need to “expand his family”, has been exposed by his “girlfriend” for paying her to pose as his potential second wife during the show’s reunion.

Mnakwethu is a reality show hosted by well-known polygamist Musa Mseleku. In the show, he helps men who are aspiring polygamists to break the news to their current wives by introducing potential wife number two.

After the first season, the producers decided to introduce a “where are they now?” type of season in the form of Mnakwethu: Happily Ever After. The season follows the lives of some of the men in the previous season as they navigate their polygamist relationships – of course with drama as the main goal.

Gezani Dludla, who is one of the polygamists on Mnakwethu: Happily Ever After, shocked fans when he introduced Sne Biyela as his girlfriend during the reunion. His first wife is Sphesihle Cele and for most of the season he had been in a relationship with Thabisile Mkhize whom he wanted to marry, but her family refused.

But, Biyela has come out to expose Dludla’s divisive plan to add some “spice” at the Mnakwethu reunion. She told Daily Sun that their said relationship was fake and she was paid to pretend it isn’t.

“We were pretending to be a couple. Gezani orchestrated everything and it was supposed to be our secret. Out of desperation for money, I agreed. He said I’d be paid R2 000,” she said.

Biyela said that she exposed her fake boyfriend because of her fellow church members who watch Mnakwethu: Happily Ever After.

“Gezani has been pushing me to start dating him. I’ve continuously rejected his advances. He wants a romantic relationship. I’m one of the amakhosazane, and the rules of my church don’t allow a maiden to date. My peers have been pushing me to come clean or they’d escalate the issue to elders. I was desperate for money,” she explained.

However, according to Dludla, this is all a lie. He claims Biyela is his girlfriend.

“I never lied. She’s my girlfriend. We’ve been dating since earlier this year but we have problems.”

In addition, the producer of Mnakwethu, Nthabi Thomas, said she was not aware of any foul play.
