‘Will Hlomu unsleep with Qhawe?’: ‘The Wife’ season 3 to reflect the book

After months of complaints from viewers, Stained Glass TV is set to include a lot more elements from the book in third season of ‘The Wife’.

The Hlomu Series book readers have voiced their opinions after learning that season three of the popular Showmax drama series, The Wife, will reflect the third book Naledi: His Love.

For months, a large number of viewers have consistently compared the telenovela to the set of books by author Dudu Busani-Dube from which the series is inspired.

According to entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela, viewers will finally see the third book come to life on their screens. However, fans feel it’s too late.

Mphela took to Twitter to reveal that there will be new changes in the third instalment of The Wife. The telenovela is currently on a production break and is only set to return in late 2022.

The Wife series to reflect the book Looks like your reactions to the #TheWifeShowmax series have not fallen on deaf ears. The murmur is that the third season of the series will veer closer to the book. New season still in pre-production,” Mphela wrote

While this may sound like good news for viewers, especially those who also read the books, several tweeps expressed that it is too late to make these changes as they feel the telenovela was “ruined” from the first seasons.

For example, viewers of The Wife were not expecting Mpande (Ishmauel Songo) to die, as none of the Zulu brothers die in the first four books.

Mandisa (played by Zikhona Sodlala) commits suicide in the first book.

On the other hand, Hlomu (Mbalenhle Mavimbela) does not sleep with any of the brothers, let alone Qhawe (Kwenzo Ngcobo) because of the strong bond Qhawe and Mqhele (Bonko Khoza) have.

Also, in the book, Sambulo (Sipho Ndlovu) is married to Xoli, and Nqoba (Abdul Khoza) is married to Gugu.

In addition, Naledi (Gaiseng K Noge) works at Tembisa Hospital in the psychiatric department and the Zulu brothers do not live together.

These are just some of the major elements in the book that were omitted in The Wife on Showmax

An angry viewer wrote: “Mandisa is still alive. Xoli is not here. Mpande is dead. They live together like it’s Ehostela. Hlomu slept with Qhawe. Mthaniya might Qhawe’s baby. Naledi doesn’t work emahlanyeni [psychiatric hospital]. Gugu is not here. Zandile is a fugitive, no interview. Maba vele bay’qale phantsi!! [they should start it from scratch].”

“It’s really pointless, how will they undo what they have already done? Will Mpande be there? Will Sambulo and Nqoba be married? Will they give us Oleta? Will Hlomu have twins? Will the Zulus be famous and extremely rich? It’s not gonna work, mabayeke…” a fan lamented.

“Can they rather wrap up their nonsense and ask the author (Dudu Dube) to actually re-pitch the books to @ShowmaxOnline and be allowed to demonstrate what’s in the books. We are willing to wait, so as to forget the horrible storyline. Even if it’s in two years,” a fan asked.
