The stigma that TikTok is only for younger users has most certainly been broken over the last few years as we see more and more parents join the platform to participate in challenges or post their original content. Dad-related content, in particular, has grown immensely, with #DadTok sitting at over 1.8 billion views on the platform, demonstrating that fathers are way cooler than we think.

As South Africa approaches Father’s Day on 19 June 2022, it’s important to highlight a few celebrity dads who continue to keep us entertained with pranks, dad jokes, and (of course) some touching and wholesome fatherly advice. These Mzansi dads have charmed their way into our hearts and have quickly become an important part of the TikTok community.

Here they are:

Oscar Sibonginkosi Mdlongwa has quickly become one of TikTok South Africa’s most popular dads due to his amazing content. People are super impressed with Oskido for not only getting the hang of the platform but for also consistently posting videos. His most recent viral video shows him dancing to the #OphouChallenge while wearing a doek and lipstick. Oskido loves to share videos of him and his daughters taking part in trending challenges, playing pranks on each other, and of course, dancing.

If you’re looking for a laugh, then Comedian Donovan Goliath is your go-to dad. Donovan continues to let fans into his entertaining life that features his wife and daughter. Another recent video shows him window shopping past petrol stations, mentioning that the rise in petrol prices gives us all chest pains. If we can’t cry about it, we must laugh.

While local sports star Wayne Parnell invites his followers to join him when training, he also participates in some fun TikTok challenges to show his followers that he is interested in more than sports. Through his videos with his kids, we also get a peek into his life as a proud dad.

One of SA’s favourite actors, Warren Masemola’s account is full of entertaining content from his previous acting gigs. He also loves to share behind-the-scenes moments from our favourite show. A proud dad, Warren also posts videos of himself having fun with his child which we can’t get enough of.

Another SA comedian who keeps us entertained on TikTok is Felix Hlophe. Loved for his vernacular comedy, Felix uses his account to share his comedy and loves to invite people to duet with him on his videos. The thing we love most about Felix is that he puts his family first because he loves them so much.

As a pastor, Kabelo Mabalane loves to redefine what we know or view pastors to be. His content is lighthearted, amusing, and, entertaining. When he is not sharing content around his adorable #daddydaughterdates, he is appreciating other people’s content.
