Cape Town dancer and choreographer, Rudi Smit and the Untimitive Dance Company are going viral for their take on Beyoncé’s Run The World – in what reminds most of a Step Up dance film.

Smit already went viral earlier this year in what appears to be a practise session for this newly-released video. But, this time he is joined by his own “mega crew”.

Smit initially grabbed everyone’s attention when his dance video set to Meghan Trainor’s Me Too went viral in 2017. Smit told IOL in 2020 that he started dancing at 9, and his introduction to dance began in the most unexpected of places – the South African talent search show, Coca Cola Pop Stars. Since then the choreographer has been consistently making high-quality dance videos that grab everyone’s attention and have even been partnering up with a few brands.

As of 2021, he has thousands of followers on Instagram, while his YouTube profile has clocked in over 2 009 417 views alone.

He reportedly started the Untimitive Dance Company in 2012. According to its Facebook page, the name “Untimitive” was formed when members from Rudi’s 2 original crews (“Untamed” and “Primitive”) merged together and started competing together as one big crew. The crew took second place and first place at Dance To Las Vegas in 2012 and 2013 respectively. They’ve also participated in the HHI Hip Hop World Championships.

This is also not the first that the “mega crew” and Rudi shot a video together – with Doja Cat’s Best Friend and Erykah Bad’s Phone Down among their most recent releases.

“Untimitive Dance Company and Rudi Smit have been working hard and long and we are extremely proud of the creative work and thought gone into this massive project,” the Untimitive Dance Company wrote on Facebook when the video of Beyoncé’s Run The World was released.

After watching the video, most social media users are in agreement: The video is awesome!

“YAAAAS SQUAD GOALS,” one YouTube user commented. “This is absolutely insane!” said another.
