Breaking Bread: Peace be with you

The word peace, “shalom’’, in the Hebrew language also means to have “fullness’’ in God. This kind of peace is not empty.

It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. What a profound truth! A realization that eases the grip of life on man – surrendering to God in all things. Partake in this feast as we consume food for the soul, nourishing the spirit in Breaking Bread. It is Monday, 19th September 2022.

THE PRINCE OF PEACE

The word peace, “shalom’’, in the Hebrew language also means to have “fullness’’ in God. This kind of peace is not empty. It is the kind of peace that fills us with love and forgiveness and not with fear.

Jesus is introduced in Isaiah 9 verse 7 as the “Prince of peace’’. There is a definite confusion in the understanding of peace of our world today and the peace that Jesus brings. Jesus brings peace no matter the circumstances, good or bad.

The peace that Jesus brings does not come through a show of power or an iron fist approach like the world. No, the sign of the peace of Jesus is a helpless child born in a stable in Bethlehem and a powerless man on a cross. This peace is not through power and violence but through the pouring out of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and life.

We must be aware at all times that God is our source of peace in this broken world (read Romans 15:13). God gives His peace to us as believers as a gift.

When we experience God as our source of peace and joy and we are through faith committed to Him, we are on our way to a place where we will have peace of mind, heart and soul. We will then all sing together “It is well with my soul’’.

PRAYER

Dear Lord, our souls are thirsty for your peace, the peace that brings love and forgiveness. Thank You that we can confess that You are our source of peace and that You alone can quench our thirst. Amen.

Here, U alleen laat my veilig woon’’ (Psalm3:9).

Amen.
