CIT ROBBERY SUSPECT WALKS HIMSELF INTO POLICE HANDCUFFS

According to the given details, the suspect ended up in police cells after he was allegedly involved in a flopped robbery of a grocery store in Worcester’s Zwelethemba.

The incident took place on 3 December when a G4S security official was attacked by two armed men while coming out of a store with massive cash money.

According to the Hawks’ spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Philani Nkwalase, the armed assailants disarmed the G4S official before grabbing the cross-pavement-carrier (CPC) box that had been activated and disappeared from the scene in a getaway car.

“The driver of the armoured vehicle pursued the silver Suzuki getaway vehicle which was later found abandoned in Ntlakohlokaza Street in Zwelethemba,” Nkwalase said as quoted by News24.

Furthermore, the CPC box with stained cash was recovered from the vehicle. Nkwalase added to say the suspect was linked to the CIT robbery. His home was searched on 30 December but he was not on the premises.

Meanwhile, the suspect will appear in the Worcester Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
