Cape Town dams: RECORD levels in the province – latest figures

The official dam level stats in the Western Cape continue to impress following some unseasonal spring rainfall and now show that capacity has been exceeded at EVERY dam.

The six major dams in the province – the Berg River, Steenbras Lower, Steenberg Upper, Theewaterskloof, Voelvlei and Wemmershoek – are cumulatively UP on a similar period last year.

And looking at the forecast, there’s more rain predicted in the week ahead.

The City of Cape Town uploaded its latest stats as of Tuesday, 26 September.

The latest figures show the six dams are a combined 109.1% of total storage.

That’s up from the 102% the previous week.

A year ago the combined percentage stood at 85.6%.

Theewaterskloof, which accounts for more than 50% of the province’s total dam capacity (480 188 MI of a total of 898 221 MI) is at 115.6% of capacity, while the next biggest dam, Voëlvlei (164 095 MI), is at 100%.
