South Africa is not only diverse racially, we have hundreds of different cultures mixed together across the country. Kearsney College seem to have captured the hearts of the country as a video of a choir performance spread like wildfire across social media.

The KZN school describes itself as “A leading independent traditional high school for boys,” it seems at Kearsney they take all of South Africa’s traditions into account.

The video shows the school’s choir performing in traditional headgear, dancing and singing in Zulu. The choir were performing at a birthday celebration for Woza Moya & Friends. Aside from the amazing singing, South Africans of all races have been encouraged by the amount of white students taking part.

There has long been a call for white South Africans and private schools to be inclusive and make more of an effort with traditional African cultures. These calls make this video particularly refreshing to see.

The video has already been viewed over 100 000 times. Comments on Facebook are wonderfully positive.

Zilindile Oscar Maliza:  Beautiful this is what we need as south African united”

Bheki Nqoko SA: I see a newly formed South Africa ????????. I see no color and no boundaries”

“Deborah Tillett: Absolutely brilliant. And for the record, the ululating and cheering made it even better. True sounds of home.”

Check out the video below.

The performance by the Kearsney College choir was amazing a big thank you to Marshell Lombard and the boys for coming through and supporting us on our big day .#travellerturn15 #Birthdaycelebration
