Eskom will ramp load shedding up to Stage 5, again, from Tuesday afternoon, 23 May, after five electricity generation units broke down over the past 24 hours. According to a Power Alert on Tuesday morning, Stage 5 load shedding kicks in from 16:00 until 5:00 on Wednesday. It will be replaced by Stage 4 until 16:00, and the pattern will be repeated until further notice. As things stand, 18 177MW is unavailable due to breakdowns, and a further 2629MW is offline for planned maintenance.
