Although the Western Cape is still in the grips of a terrible drought, other parts of the country have experienced some much-needed rainfall, allowing dams and rivers to fill up and flow again.

In Limpopo, Stofberg was at the right place at the right time as the water began to fill up the dry river bed.

Stofberg captioned the video: “After the worst drought this country has seen in many years, every drop of water is precious. Many rivers are nothing but dry sandy causeways crisscrossing through the landscape. The land is awaiting the return of the water with angst.

And then, one day, the call is answered. Life returns to Matlabas.”

Authorities warn that despite the recent rains, citizens need to be extremely cautious about water usage and that water-saving efforts should not cease.
