In what was possibly the most anticipated move after Eminem released his surprise album, Kamikaze, the Rap God finally sat down with legendary Hip-Hop curator, Sway, to address a few things.

At the top of the list was, of course, the ‘why?’ question that lingered on the minds of everyone after it was announced – out of the blue- that a new Slim Shady album was out.

The Detroit rapper made it clear that this surprise approach was more of a therapeutic exercise for him, more than anything.

He wanted to avoid the pressure that comes with releasing a tracklist a while before the album drops. According to Shady, people formulate opinions on a body of work that is presented like that, way before they have even heard it because they expect the same input he is known for.

It wasn’t long before Sway jumped into the real hot stuff – Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) and Joe Budden.

For the first time, we got somewhat of an unconventional response – for Eminem’s standard, anyway – from the Detroit rapper on the topic of MGK and Budden.

You will know that soon after the release of Kamikaze, MGK took to the studio to drop a diss record aimed at Eminem, who disses him a few times on the album.

Budden was also meticulous in his three-hour response to Eminem on his podcast show. It was obvious, at this point, that the two did not get along as well as we had assumed back in the Slaughterhouse days.

Eminem, visibly agitated that he was even giving all of this his time and attention – confirmed that he and Budden were not friends. He challenged the retired rapper to pull out his best body of work before he points out at others’ failures.

The third part of the interview was uploaded on Thursday, late in the evening.

In this instalment, the Rap God shocked us all when he revealed that President Donald Trump took his disses quite seriously, to the point where he sent secret agents to pay the rapper a visit.

On The Ringer, the first song from the album, Eminem laid it in on Trump:

Cause Agent Orange just sent the Secret Service/

To meet in person to see if I really think of hurtin’ him/

Or ask if I’m linked to terrorists/

I said, ‘Only when it comes to ink and lyricists.

Eminem admitted it to Sway that this actually happened.

“They came to my studio, yeah. They were basically just asking questions about my lyrics to see what the intent was behind them and if I was making an actual threat or just expressing myself.”
