Watch: South African boys hilariously tested on British slang knowledge [video]

These South African YouTubers were properly put to the test on all things “British slang”. Simply put, sit back and get ready to laugh.

British Slang

Almost exactly a year ago, South African YouTuber Josh Pieters uploaded a brilliant video called “British boys trying to speak South African”. That video went viral and now it seems it’s time for the roles to be reversed. This time, South Africans are having a hilarious crack at British slang.

While local YouTube stars Caspar Lee and Josh Pieters are both in this video, the challenge comes from British YouTuber Mikey Pearce.

Mikey Pearce boasts over 400 000 subscribers on the platform and is a close friend of Caspar and Josh. Together with other YouTubers, all three are a part of the “Buttercream Squad”. Basically, just a group of friends who appear in each other’s YouTube videos.

There are three South Africans taking part of the challenge, the third? South African actor and model (think back to Spud) Byron Langley. If you ever wanted an example of the typical South African “bru” accent, Byron is your guy.

We’ll be honest and say that we hadn’t heard of almost all of these words. Mikey is from Brighton, though, so maybe we South Africans are just more exposed to the Big Shaq London side of things?

With words like “Nosh” and “chinwag”, the South Africans in the video thankfully seemed just as confused as we were.

As expected with 20-something-year-olds, things got a little bit naughty. Keep that in mind if you’re watching on a device connected to some massive speakers.

While the video is maybe not quite as funny as the Brits trying to speak “South African” video, it’s still definitely worth a watch and a good chuckle.
