Samsung’s new ‘Safety Truck’ could prevent thousands of road accidents in SA annually
The technology giant is almost ready to launch its solution to road accidents caused by poor visibility when driving behind trucks, one of our country’s — and most others to be honest — major contributing factors to the high road death toll.
How often do we see truck accidents wiping out entire families, especially in Kwazulu Natal, Limpopo and the Eastern Cape? Every year we get the stats, every year government adopts a harsher approach to road safety; yet, the improvements aren’t what we want them to be.
What if we could eliminate one of the largest contributors to those road accident stats, wouldn’t that be worth a shot, shouldn’t we rally behind an idea like that? Well, here’s on such idea… or rather, solution.
The Samsung Safety Truck is a pretty simple idea, show drivers behind exactly what’s happening in front, so they can make informed decisions and in doing so save thousands of lives. A wireless camera projects everything the truck sees onto a screen at the back, it even has night vision, helping drivers see further than they naturally would.
