No chill as SABC news reader calls the president “Jacob Ramaphosa” [video]

Just a week after veteran news anchor Peter Ndoro was taken off of the air, another SABC anchor has been caught making a presidential mix-up.

Another SABC anchor is making viral waves on social media after making a mix-up that has left social media having a laugh at the SABC’s expense. With Peter Ndoro’s on-air mixups gaining massive attention over the last month, another error so soon meant Twitter was even less obliged to provide chill.

In the SABC’s Venda news bulletin on Monday, the anchor was attempting to refer to former President Jacob Zuma but ended up saying “Jacob Ramaphosa”.

Translated into English, the anchor said: “After the resignation of President Jacob Ramaphosa, the residence of Nkandla were saddened.”

Just like the Peter Ndoro situation, Twitter went absolutely ballistic as the jokes and memes rolled in.

While it’s unclear if this anchor will need to issue a formal apology or go on a paid break, SABC veteran Peter Ndoro provided a great update to the nation on Friday. Ndoro had been taken off the air by the SABC after mistakenly announcing President Ramaphosa’s death.

There you go! The country’s favourite news anchor is ready to get back to work. While we may love a good laugh, these newsreaders have been working under hectic pressure these last few weeks.
