Gotcha! Hero cop gives Durban hijackers what they deserve for Christmas [video]

Justice was a dish served cold for two hijackers this Christmas. They were stopped in their tracks by a Durban cop who was in no mood to mess about on the 25th…

There’s a fine line between bravery and stupidity: It’s a balancing act most hijackers practice on a daily basis. But when these two Durban-based thieves tried their luck on Christmas Day, the only reward they got was a humiliating arrest.

This pair cemented their place on the naughty list when they managed to snatch a Toyota Etios from its rightful owner. After making it to the Sasol garage on Booth Road, their masterplan soon became a disastrous ordeal.

Upon parking outside of the store front, these two were greeted by the strong arm of the law. One SAPS officer points his gun towards the driver, who is forced to crawl out of the car and onto the floor. He’s then ordered to put his hands behind his head, as a Sasol employee takes cover inside.

Durban hijackers stopped by sole SAPS officer

If the perp behind the wheel was subject to embarrassment, then his partner-in-crime got it ten-fold: We see the passenger make his first appearance on camera when he gets dragged by the shirt, and placed next to his mate. The arrests were carried out by the same lone-officer, who was clearly not in the mood for these shenanigans on his Christmas Day shift.

We’ve since had it confirmed to us by the Crime Air Network that both offenders remain in police custody, and were armed during the time of the robbery – which makes the work of SAPS’ hero cop all the more remarkable.

Of course, many of us remain vulnerable to the threat of violence and theft on our roads. But there are plenty of unsung heroes out there, who put their life on the line to keep us all safe. Here’s hoping the arresting officer found a Christmas bonus under the tree when he returned home on Tuesday!
