Now, Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic has conducted some great celebrations at this tournament, but her team were humbled 4-2 by France in the final.

That didn’t stop her from being a great sport, however. Sat alongside the French Leader Emmanuel Macron in the VIP area, the pair exchanged a hug and a kiss on the cheek at the full-time whistle.

Grabar-Kitarovic won worldwide acclaim for her displays of joy during Croatia’s historic run to the final. Not only did she celebrate wildly in the stands, but she joined in the team’s celebrations in the dressing room following their defeat of Rusia last week.

On Sunday, she had to show a little more humility. Needless to say, the president nailed it. There’s no point in being a good winner if you can’t be a good loser, after all.

Despite her good sportsmanship, there wasn’t much chivalry on display when it came to the presentations. Let’s just see who did and did not get an umbrella for the presentations, shortly after the heavens opened.

As long as Putin’s happy, that’s all that matters right? The Russian leader was also watching from up in the VIP area, as this winter’s football extravaganza drew to a close.

The six-goal thriller was the highest-scoring final since 1966, equaling England’s 4-2 victory over Germany. However, the Three Lions required extra-time to chalk up their third and fourth goals at Wembley.
