BBC used the wrong subtitles for Trump’s inauguration [video]

Oh how we laughed.

Yesterday, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 45th president of the United States. There were all sorts of reactions on Twitter and from people far smarter than us.

For those freaking the hell out about it all, the best way to deal was just to laugh and nothing will make you laugh more than the BBC rolling the wrong subs across the screen.

Trump’s face appeared on the screen subtitles saying: “Oh whatever” and “mum will get into trouble”.

Have a look.

Kayleigh Smirk, from Southampton,  filmed the video while watching with the sound on mute. Smirk’s Tweet, as you might expect, went viral. The subtitles, it seems, came from a kid’s TV show.

If, for some reason, you can’t see the video above, try this one.

The BBC, however, claim that they did not have any other feedback regarding the little slip up. A spokesperson told Buzzfeed:  “We have not found any evidence or had other feedback from viewers that our main output covering the inauguration was subtitled incorrectly.”

Oh, okay. Well, we’ll laugh at it anyway, yeah?
