To celebrate National Parks week this week, SANParks is giving all South African free access to its parks.

This year’s initiative will run under the theme ‘Know Your National Parks’.

SANParks regional spokesperson Divhani Maremba said: “Nineteen parks around the country will be opened and access will be granted to South African citizens for free as long as they can provide their identity documents. In the northern region, we’ve got the Mapungubwe National Park and World Heritage Site and we also have the Kruger National Park.

In the past, this initiative has seen as many as 200 000 people visit the parks.
