Working is inevitable. Travelling while you work is ideal, but not always easy. Below is a list of jobs that can be done on the road.

Waiting tables – not everyone’s cup of tea, but this is a super easy way to immerse yourself in the culture of the country and make some money. Generally, your mornings will be free to explore – depending on where you work.

Barista – a fan of coffee? Just about everywhere you go, the coffee industry is huge.

Flight attendant – chicken or beef? This is the ultimate travel job. And you get to meet and mingle with your crew and even some travellers.

Work on a boat/yacht/cruise ship – if you’ve got a stomach for the sea, there’s an abundance of jobs that can be done on the water.

Translator/interpreter – obviously for this job you’d need to be proficient in a number of languages, but if you are, you’ll be in high demand!

Teach English – several countries need English teachers. Chat to someone who has done it before to make sure you’re cut out for it, but this is a great way to earn money and live somewhere far from home.

Humanitarian work – working for an NGO and giving to a community will always make you enjoy living somewhere new. Plus, there are bound to be other people from abroad also working with you.

Nurse/doctor/dentist/optician – medically skilled people are always needed. Everywhere.

Scuba instructor – again, a qualification is necessary for this, but the places you can travel to are almost unlimited and generally exquisite.

Au pair/nanny – you’ll need to quite like children for this one. Join an agency and let them help you find the perfect family.

Yoga teacher – once qualified, you can teach just about anywhere in the world – either as an independent yogi or on yoga retreats.

Freelancer/writer/blogger – this is a bit more airy-fairy, but if you have a few contacts, you’ll probably be able to do what you love whilst cruising around this big, beautiful world of ours.
