Huawei’s latest flagship device in the nova Series, the Nova 8, is a stylish entertainment powerhouse that encapsulates the best traits of young people today – the adventurous and imaginative group that never settles for the ordinary.
The Nova 8’s name is a shortening of the New Latin astronomical term “nova stella”, which refers to a new bright star that cuts through the darkness and lights up the sky, mirroring its users’ out of this world potential. From the 64MP Rear Quad Camera that enables unbridled photographic creativity, to the outer design of the device, which was inspired by the stars and the planets.
The device comes in a new colourway – Blush Gold, which was achieved through a dual-film and dual-plating process and advanced anti-glare coating. Continuing to play into the astronomy theme of the Nova, the smartphone dazzles the eye with different colours depending on the angle it is viewed from.
The Nova 8’s refreshing design moved away from the typical rectangular-shaped camera modules that dominate the rear of the latest smartphones. Huawei’s all-new Nebular Camera System Design stands out as it resembles the manufacturer’s nova logo.
The uppermost camera, with the Ultra-Wide Angle lens, which looks similar to a DSLR camera occupies the top of the module and the three remaining cameras and flashlight form a neat little cube underneath it.
The Nova 8 comes with a 64MP rear camera that allows you to capture tack-sharp photos and videos for social media content. Through its 4-in-1 light fusion technology, you can capture the finest details in high resolution during the day or night.
The device also introduces a “Super Night Mode” that makes ensures your photographs come out crystal clear even in poor lighting conditions. The Nova 8’s AI technology uses all four cameras and creates a composition from the images captured by each – meaning that the details in the highlights and shadows can be captured properly.
The front camera is 32MP, which means that when you turn the camera on yourself to capture personal moments or take selfies with your mates the photo quality remains top-notch. The AI tech and Super Night Mode corrections can be applied to the selfie camera as well.
In terms of video, the main camera and rear camera work together to enable “Dual-View Video”. One of the cameras records the entire scene while the other is used for close-up shots. The Nova 8 supports HD video output up to a resolution of 1080p.
The nova Series flagship device has a new 6.57-inch curved screen that is perfect for watching videos, browsing the internet or viewing your expert-quality photographs in the gallery. Huawei’s AI technology is featured here too with the Mistouch prevention feature and TÜV Rheinland certified Eye Comfort features that ensure minimal eye strain.
The Nova 8’s 90Hz refresh rate means the display updates 90 frames per second and responds very quickly, combined with a sampling rate of 240Hz which gives you lower touch control latency – ensuring that every touch is more accurate – can give mobile gamers the cutting edge when it comes to high-intensity online play.
The Nova 8 combines Huawei’s advanced fast charging, AI Power Saving and heat dissipation technologies, to deliver a longer-lasting battery life with better cooling performance. Whether you use the device to stream videos, take photographs, browse the web or play games. The battery has you covered.
Huawei’s self-developed battery cells are in the device and the manufacturer has seemingly overcome long-standing limitations with its latest innovation – the 66W Huawei Supercharge, which allows the device to be charged to 60 percent in just 15 minutes and 100 percent in 35 minutes.
