The PlayStation 5 (PS5) will only be available for purchase during the 2020 holiday season, however, Sony is planning to introduce the console as early as June 2020.

With that in mind, Let’s Go Digital’s graphic designer, Giuseppe Spinelli aka Snoreyn, created a high-profile video trailer of the PS5 in combination with the DualSense controller, in anticipation of the official introduction.

New PlayStation 5 trailer

We’ve shared a few of Snoreyn’s trailers in the past. In case you missed it, Snoreyn videos are perfectly crafted, you’d think that an entire team of Sony digital artists created it.

In fact, take a quick scroll through the comment section of his previous videos and see how many people are demanding that Sony actually commission Snoryen for the PS5’s launch. Impressive!

In the latest video, the animations come together perfectly to deliver the ultimate gaming experience, with new features devised by Giuseppe such as ‘Ellie the Virtual Speech Assistant’.

It also showcases a new membership level called PlayStation Plus Basic Plan, a Lite subscription available online to be able to play games at an affordable rate.

Virtual voice assistant

The AI (artificial intelligence) speech assistant is called ‘Ellie’, named after the main character from The Last of Us and the upcoming The Last of Us Part, which is scheduled for release on 19 June.

A virtual AI assistant could help you during the gameplay. The voice assistant is similar to what Microsoft has done on Cortana, which is originally a character from the popular Halo series. Let’s Go Digital explains:

“Developers would be free to choose what Ellie knows and what she can help you with throughout the game. For example, Ellie could tell you where you left off in the game, as well as remind you of your next assignment. In addition, you can ask Ellie questions such as ‘where can I find the remaining collectables?'”

That would prompt the answer: “You missed two collectables in Chapter 6.” You can also a ‘ How many times have I died?, which would be perfect for games like Bloodborne, where the death rate is very high.

Virtual AI assistant optimised for gaming

The virtual AI assistant could also perform all basic functions for you. For example, the smart voice assistant can help you save your game progress or start a new game – provided the game developer also supports this option.

Sony has in the past filed multiple patent documents pertaining to virtual voice-based assistant. Whether all those functionalities will be included in the upcoming PS5 console remains to be seen.

That said, the DualSense controller is equipped with a microphone, so it is certainly not completely impossible to incorporate should Sony choose to roll it out at a later stage

.Even though virtual assistants are commonplace these days, (for example, Google Assistant, Siri, Cortana and Alexa) the release of Ellie would be the first time that it has been optimised for gaming.
