With the return of the Mandalorian, Microsoft has just revealed a brand-new wireless Xbox controller which is based on the hit show, The Mandalorian.

The console is available for pre-order and has a design that resembles Mando’s Beskar steel suit. It also features a graphic based on the character’s helmet and the charging stand with the image of “The Child” (forever known as Baby Yoda) on the back of the controller.

What you should know

Fans who want to purchase the controller will have to fork up R2 755 for pre-orders, the Xbox Twitter account tweeted images of the new controller and charger and boy, do I want one! (This is the Way).

The controller will be compatible with Xbox One platforms, and the Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, Windows 10, Android, and iOS devices.

The Xbox Series X and Series S will also receive an updated controller design, and the new systems are designed to work with controllers from the previous console generation.

The console has “textured grips, custom button mapping, and up to twice the wireless range,” this is all according to the Microsoft Store. “A magnetic contact system allows for one-handed play while you charge,” Microsoft added.

The design is modelled after the Mandalorian’s armour which has weathered armour panels and metallic iconography, with a full-blown Mandalorian helmet logo on the front of the charger.

When you flip the controller over, you will notice that the rechargeable battery cover also doubles as a wanted poster for The Child. Baby Yoda, definitely changed my life, so cute!

Release date

There is no Share button on the controller as this is an Xbox One-generation controller, so it doesn’t have a redesigned D-Pad or textured triggers. Don’t sweat, though as it will work with the new- generation consoles.

According to Microsoft, The Mandalorian Xbox controller will be available 31 December 2020, but pre-orders have already begun.
