PlayStation would like to make it clear that no PlayStation 5 (PS5) news will be shared or revealed during The Last of Us Part II State of Play. Instead, we’ll get a deeper look into the gameplay of Naughty Dog’s next big hit.

This will be Sony’s second State of Play this month, following just two weeks after the gameplay showcase of another big hit, Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima. Read more about that, here.

What to expect from The Last of Us Part II State of Play

Druckmann will walk us through details of the gameplay experience, as well as the storyline and plot. Back in January, Druckmann said in an interview that the developers wanted to create an “authentic, grim action game”.

The devil’s in the details, the popular saying goes, and The Last of Us Part II is no exception. From the characters’ emotions to the portrayal of violence, know that the realism meter has been pushed up a notch:

“We want to treat violence as realistically as we can in an action game. One example is that every human enemy in the game features a unique name, such as Omar, or Joe. […] The way [in which human enemies] communicate is much more sophisticated. We do that in order to make you feel it’s not just like an NPC or braindead obstacle”.

What is the Summer Games Fest?

Quite simply, it’s a season of digital video game events from publishers and will feature playable content, in-game events, and plenty of special announcements and mystery reveals.

Keighley is the genius behind the Summer Game Fest. He explains:

“We are figuring this thing out as we go! One man army here editing, streaming and interviewing but love your suggestions and ideas as we build. Best part is we have 4 months to tweak and play with the format.”

Summer Game Fest schedule

In short, Summer Game Fest is a four-month-long event, so we have an exciting time ahead. It kicked off on 13 May and goes all the way until August 2020. According to the organisers:

“Summer Game Fest is a new, all-digital way to unite the gaming community for a season of vido game news and events from game developers and publishers.”

Don’t worry if the four-month time frame seems like overkill. There won’t be announcements every day. Rather think of it as a season of gaming fun, with some off days strewn in to recuperate.
