PlayStation released the trailer for the long-awaited RPG open-world game, ‘Hogwarts Legacy’, to the rabid excitement of fans. Here’s what you need to know about ‘Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’.

The trailer showcased how players can customise their characters with an inclusive palette that ranges from skin tone to hair types, making sure all are represented in this magical world based on the popular Harry Potter franchise.
One can attend classes taught by famous witches and wizards as well as learn spells from master Aurors. The game is set in the late 1800s, long before the events that take place in Harry Potter.
During a press release, Warner Bros. stated that the game is an”open-world, single-player, action role-playing game where players can experience life as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as they embark on a dangerous journey to uncover a hidden truth about the wizarding world”.

Players get to grow their powers and refine them as they make decisions that affect their story arc; you’ll either be the hero or go down a more sinister path.
The great thing about the trailer is that it seems that the story is not just restricted to the castle. It mentions that there is a “larger world beyond the walls” before opening to students flying on Griffins (Buckbeak fans rejoice).
Choices are heavily highlighted in the trailer meaning that everyone’s experience of the game will be different and unique.
When will Hogwarts Legacy be released?
The game currently has a release date set for 2021 and the fact that it is set in the 1800’s means that developers had more creative freedom and were not confined to the story of Harry Potter so that players themselves can play a unique story.
I for one am super excited to return to the Wizarding World. The Harry Potter story influenced me so much when I was younger and will remain a huge part of who I am.
This sentiment was also felt by a lot of fans as the trailer ended up trending all over social media. It is, therefore, safe to say that wizards and muggles alike are looking forward to this one.
