Going gold is a gamer term that means that the release version of the game is complete. We can finally marvel at the disc that the game can be played from and production for the physical copies of Cyberpunk 2077 has now begun.

Cyberpunk 2077 took to Twitter to officially announce the news on 5 October 2020 and developers expressed their excitement. The project had first been initially announced back in 2013.

“Cyberpunk 2077 has gone gold! See you in Night City on November 19th!”

DLCs in pipeline

Although it has gone gold, this does not mean that the development of Cyberpunk 2077 is complete. There are still features that need to be added like free DLC paid expansions and a multiplayer mode.

This will all, however, be added after the release date. Going gold is great news for gamers as this probably means there will be no more delay.

Cyberpunk 2077 development

It hasn’t been easy for CD Projekt Red’s workers, developers had to go through a period of mandatory crunch, where they worked six days a week but at least the Poland-based CD Projekt Red will be paying its employees for the overtime.

Adam Badowski, who is the studio head responded to criticism saying that it was “one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make”, but highlighting that developers will be “well compensated for every extra hour they put in.”

Release date

The game is developed by CD Projekt Red and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC. Of course, the game will also be available for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

The game has taken a long and stressful road to release, but the company has made it clear that it will stick to the schedule this time and be released on November 19.
