Facebook (now, Meta) bosom buddies WABetaInfo highlighted a bunch of new changes expected to hit the Android version of WhatsApp, over the last week. None of the features is groundbreaking but they should make the chat app’s experience more convenient (for some).

WHATSAPP BLUR TOOL COMES TO ANDROID

The blurring feature, which has been available on iOS for quite some time, is expected to roll out in a beta version of WhatsApp for Android imminently.

The feature will be located within the drawing editor along with two new pencils and can be used to conceal specific parts of an image.

LIMITS ON MESSAGING FORWARDING

Two years on since WhatsApp tackled the dissemination of fake news and pesky chain messages on its platform by tagging frequently forwarded messages as “forwarded many times”, the company introduced another limitation in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.7.2 update.

In this version, forwarded messages can be sent to no more than one group chat at a time. If a user wanted to forward the message several times they would have to repeat the process as many times as required.

“Note that the new limitation takes effect even when the message is forwarded once, so it’s different from the previous limitation,” said WABetaInfo.
