Police have arrested four businessmen for an alleged R2 milion fraud involving the SASSA in the Eastern Cape.

Four SASSA officials appeared at the Port Elizabeth Specialised Commercial Crime Court for fraud which amounts to just over R5.9 million.
Social Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu said 177 108 officials were receiving illegal social grants as of the end of July.

SASSA is investigating those who fraudulently benefitted from the R350 grant in 2020 which includes inmates and migrants.
The police have warned the public not to hand their SASSA or bank cards to creditors when taking out a loan.
