The Cheetahs ran the Sharks ragged to register a bonus-point win in Bloemfontein and continue their flawless run in this year’s Currie Cup.
The Cheetahs gathered enough reserves to grab a hard-fought Currie Cup victory over the gritty Lions on Friday at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.
Ruan Pienaar returns to the Sharks number 9 jersey on loan from the Cheetahs, adding crucial experience to the young backline.
Veteran Cheetahs scrumhalf Ruan Pienaar is returning to the Sharks where he started his career on a short-term loan deal.
The Sharks have used this deal to secure the services of Ruan Pienaar to rejuvenate their depleted ranks. The Durban-based franchise have also drafted in fellow halfback Tian Meyer.
“We decided on a lofty objective for the Currie Cup as early as February already and we know exactly what we want to achieve,” said the coach.

Pienaar has ended all speculation surrounding his retirement, extending his stay at the Cheetahs.
