The Gauteng Department of Education has cautioned parents that Grade 1 and 8 placement offers are only valid for SEVEN days.

Gauteng Education reports a smooth placement process as a total of 141 036 applicants have accepted offers at various schools.

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane is expected to give an update on learner placements in the province today.

Since Monday, 4 September 2023, more than 200 000 learners have received placement offers via the SMS medium.

With more than 200 000 placements made at Gauteng Schools, not all offers will sit well with the parents/ guardians of the learners.

The total number of applicants is 757 075 for both Grade 1 (primary) and Grade 8 (high school) for next year (2024).

From Monday, Grade 1 and 8 parents/ guardians with complete applications will receive SMSes with placement offers.

GDE says the 2024 Online Admissions Placement Period for Grade 1 and 8 will begin on Monday, 4 September 2023.
