South African slang has proven much harder to tackle than the average Springbok player these days and a few members of the Wales rugby team had quite a tough time dealing with some words unique to the southern tip of the African continent.

In a short video featuring actor Julian Lewis Jones, veteran lock forward Alun-Wyn Jones, star fullback Leigh Halfpenny and a few others they try and guess the meaning of SA terms such as “boet”, “lekker” and “laduma”. Admittedly they do much better than one would have anticipated – this may be largely thanks to the sport sticking to the tradition of players from opposite sides sharing a dop or two after the game.

It is however, The Justice League actor who who aces the test as he gets an impressive 100% score… We’re pretty sure he cheated but we’ll let it slide for his impressive pronunciation of “gogga”.

It will be back to the more serious business of rugby on Saturday though when these two sides meet at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
