This comes after Cape Town’s Harris reached the last 16 of a Masters 1000 event for the first time at last week’s Miami Open.

Harris, 25, beat Argentina’s Facundo Bagnis, Canada’s Denis Shapovalov and Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka in Florida before losing to defending champion Hubert Hurkacz of Poland.

Those wins were enough – as first reported by The South African website – to see Harris improve to 40th in the world.

That left him four places above 20-time Grand Slam winner Federer who dropped to 44th spot.

Roger Federer’s lowest ranking in 22 years

Fast forward almost 22 years and the 40-year-old now boasts 103 titles!
