Lloyd Harris’ dream US Open run ends after Alexander Zverev defeat

South African tennis ace Lloyd Harris’ dream run at the US Open is over after a straight-sets defeat to Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals.

South African tennis ace Lloyd Harris’ dream run at the US Open in New York is over after a straight-sets defeat to Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

Harris lost to Germany’s Zverev, who claimed the gold medal at the recent Tokyo Olympics, 7-6 (8/6), 6-3, 6-4 in a match which lasted two hours and eight minutes.

Harris entered the tournament ranked 46th in the world, but thanks to his run into the last eight he will move up to 31st when the updated rankings are released next Monday.
