Despite being in the final six months of his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns – and free to sign a pre-contract agreement with rival clubs – Hunt stated that 32-year-old Jali is simply too expensive to consider purchasing.

Hunt said according to KickOff, “Do you think we can afford Andile Jali? I’d have to sell the team.

“I mean, I could take him tomorrow, but we can’t afford him.”

Instead, SuperSport United have signed striker Zakhele Lepasa on loan from Orlando Pirates.

Jali’s agent, Mike Makaab, gave an update on the current situation with his client’s future at Masandawana.

“At the moment, we are involved in negotiations with Sundowns and we hope to conclude these negotiations sooner rather than later,” said Makaab.

“The best deals are those that unfold naturally, and I think this one will unfold naturally, whichever way it goes.”

With the club’s decision to pass on Jali, Matsatsantsa fans will have to look elsewhere for their next big signing.
