Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has announced retirement from football aged 41.

His AC Milan contract expires at the end of June and he had already announced he would not be renewing it following an injury-plagued season that saw him play only four games this season.

“It’s the moment to say goodbye to football, not just to you,” said Zlatan on the San Siro pitch on Sunday.

“There are too many emotions for me right now. Forza Milan and goodbye.”
