Blom was brought in at St. Louis City for his battling qualities and so far, so good. What really stands out from the above stats is the excellence of his defensive display. Ball recoveries, ground duels, interceptions, you name it. Blom was also impressive on the ball, completing 82% of his passes.
MLS not typically the place for young stars
Major League Soccer in the United Stats has typically attracted Europe’s superstars in the twilight years of their careers. At 23, Njabulo Blom is at the opposite end of his career trajectory. It’s not unreasonable to think that the holding midfield star might be eyeing out a move away from America after he’s gained valuable experience there.

A stepping stone to Europe?
It’s quite easy to see Blom gaining valuable know-how in the United States and then securing a move to a Europe within two years. Clubs in Belgium, all over Scandinavia and Portugal will likely be taking a look at the 23-year-old for his all-round midfield qualities. He’s a battler. Every team needs a battler of his type. Basically, what we’re saying here is that it wouldn’t be a massive surprise to see this young man testing his mettle in Europe.
