Samuel Eto’o elected new Cameroon Football Association president

Former Barcelona and Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o was on Saturday elected as the new Cameroon Football Association president.

Former Barcelona and Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o was on Saturday elected as the new Cameroon Football Association president.

Eto’o beat Seidou Mbombo Njoya who won the presidential election in 2018, and had hoped to keep his position.

It took the 40-year-old former star three months to accomplish his mission of becoming the president as he only announced his intentions in September.

At the time, Eto’o said his interest in running for the post stemmed from the fact that he wanted to restructure the Cameroonian football.

He added that the ousted president had failed dismally in improving football in Cameroon – and now this is his chance to make things right.

WHO IS SAMUEL ETO’O?

Eto’o needs no introduction to football as he achieved almost everything under the sun during his playing days.

He played his best football at Barcelona but he also featured for teams such as Real Madrid, Chelsea and Inter Milan among many others.

Eto’o is a four-time African Player of the Year – and a two-time Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner with Cameroon.
