In a game between Bayern FC and Secunda M Stars at the KwaNyamazane Stadium in Mbombela on Saturday, ugly scenes have emerged showing onlookers charging from the stands and targeting a SAFA official, eventually forcing the match to be abandoned due to the pitch invasion.

Fans are said to have reacted angrily after Bayern were awarded a penalty late in the game after the Stars goalkeeper fouled striker Lolo Mbonani.

This latest incident comes after SAFA referee Victor Hlungwane and University of Pretoria scout Tebogo Monyai reportedly had their car tyres vandalised during the first leg last week.

According to Kickoff.com, SAFA Mpumalanga Provincial secretary Bevan Mahlangu confirmed the incident was being looked into, and that Jabu Nzima had been released from hospital.

“Yes, it’s true that match commissioner Jabulani Nzima has been discharged from hospital. I would prefer not to comment on the incident until SAFA receives the match report.

“Once the matter has been tabled before the SAFA DC then I can comment.”
