ICYMI: Top overseas coach could be interested in Chiefs job

A highly-respected Egyptian coach could reportedly be willing to take on the Chiefs top job if Stuart Baxter were to leave the club.

Kaizer Chiefs embarrassingly crashed out of the Nedbank Cup earlier this year, losing 1-0 at TS Galaxy, and soon after that result, Amakhosi then played out to a disappointing draw against Cape Town City in the DStv Premiership.

Chiefs did bounce back with wins over Orlando Pirates and Baroka, but recently slipped to another underwhelming loss against Golden Arrows.

Judging by fan reaction – as reported by The South African website – Amakhosi supporters are quickly growing tired of Baxter who is in his second stint at the Soweto giants, and some have even recently started a petition calling for him to be axed.

According to Soccer Laduma sources, Hossam El Badry could well be interested in exploring the option of coaching in the Premier Soccer League, specifically at Chiefs.

The Cairo-born coach was linked with a coaching gig at the club a few years ago, but he ultimately ended up back in his native country, where he has been settled for the last few years.

However, he has been out of a frontline job since last year after Carlos Queiroz replaced him as the Egyptian national team coach.

Chiefs are back in action today

Chiefs are currently third the league standings, but do have games in hand, and Baxter won’t be panicking based on all his experience as a coach.

Amakhosi will next be in PSL action on Saturday, 2 April, and would be expected to claim a comfortable win against relegation-threatened Chippa United.
