South Africa’s Percy Tau continues to play with mixed results in Egypt and will not have enjoyed his most recent outing.

Percy Tau continues to play with mixed results in Egypt and will not have enjoyed his most recent outing.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns player didn’t return for the second half on Tuesday as Al Ahly drew their latest game in the Egyptian Premier League.

Tau didn’t return after a goalless first half

Tau had a forgettable game as his team struggled to a 1-1 share of the spoils with El Dakhleya, reports Goal.

The Bafana Bafana international, who made waves earlier in his career when he was signed by Premier League team Brighton and Hove Albion, has struggled for consistency in recent times.

He joined Al Ahly when Pitso Mosimane was still at the helm but under Marcel Koller he has not been at his best. And he continues to be linked with a return to the Dstv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

A goalless first half and a lack of impact led to Tau being withdrawn for striker Mohamed Sherif.

Goals are drying up

Tau featured against his former club on the weekend as Sundowns secured a draw in their CAF Champions League outing. In the competition, the playmaker hasn’t scored in his two games.

He has two goals in eight appearances in the league.

Tau last scored on 12 December during Al Ahly’s 3-0 victory over Al Ittihad.

Al Ahly have 41 points after 17 matches as they lead Pyramids by three points having played two games more.
