Yohane – who formerly played for Zimbabwe and was part of the 2004 African Nations Cup team – was reportedly carjacked and shot dead in tragic circumstances earlier this month. His body was reported to have been found in Mzimhlophe, Soweto.

RIP: FORMER BIDVEST WITS CAPTAIN MURDERED IN SOUTH AFRICA!

At the time of his retirement from the game, Yohane held the record for most appearances at Bidvest Wits after playing for them over a period stretching between 1997 to 2006.

The 48-year-old played for Fire Batteries in Zimbabwe before moving to South Africa where he played for African Wanderers, AmaZulu, Wits and AK FX.

The former Warriors star was last attached at Wits as a university development team coach before the club folded in 2020. It’s been said that he was driving for e-hailing taxi service Bolt on a part-time basis after conducting academy coaching sessions.

Reports have indicated that one of the suspects in the 48-year-old’s murder was arrested after he was spotted driving the stolen vehicle, while CCTV footage has apparently shown a gang of four men accosting Yohane and forcing him to drive off at a traffic light.

Peter Pauros, a nephew of Yohane, has told H-Metro that the family are waiting to get more information from the South African Police Service (SAPS) who are still investigating the matter.

“What we want is justice and the good thing is someone has been arrested and is in custody. We are told one man has been arrested and will probably appear in court tomorrow (today).

“But, we are here to gather information and the police are still investigating. We are waiting to get more information, the police are still looking into the issue of what really transpired.”

A touching memorial services was held for Yohane in Kempton Park on Sunday, while he will be buried in Harare this weekend.
