REPORT: SuperSport set to sign talented striker

A resurgent SuperSport United team are set for another boost following reports they could be poised to unveil the signing of a new striker.

On Tuesday night, SuperSport romped to a 3-1 win over Royal AM, which has lifted them to third on the DStv Premiership table.

According to KickOff.com, SuperSport fans should expect more good news this week, with Namibian striker Benson Shilongo set to be unveiled as a new signing.

The experienced Namibian international spent several seasons playing for Ismaily SC in Egypt, while he most recently had a brief spell in Israel before apparently now heading to South Africa.

Shilongo is said to have impressed SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt, which has led to a three-year deal.

SuperSport United needed two late goals to beat Royal AM 3-1 in league match which was played at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Thamsanqa Gabuza opened the scoring for Matsatsantsa but Mfundo Thikazi leveled matters with 15 minutes to go.

Nonetheless, Grant Magerman and Bradley Grobler netted for SuperSport United on 81st minute and 90 minute respectively.

Stellenbosch 3-0 Maritzburg United

Steve Barker’s men made lightweight of the Team of Choice, hammering them 3-0 at Danie Craven Stadium in the other kick-off.

Thabo Moloisane scored an own goal to hand Stellenbosch the lead in the 24th minute while Antonio Van Wyk and Sinethemba Mngomezulu made the points safe with a goal each in the second half.

Golden Arrows 1-1 Cape Town City

Arrows hosted City at Princess Magogo Stadium, and they needed a late goal to deny Eric Tinkler’s charges maximum.
