World Cup 2022: Giroud becomes France’s all-time goalscorer!
Thierry Henry’s all-time goalscoring record for France has finally been broken by AC Milan veteran striker Olivier Giroud.

Thierry Henry‘s all-time goalscoring record for France has finally been broken by AC Milan veteran striker Olivier Giroud.

Giroud went into Sunday’s Last 16 encounter against Senegal tied on 51 international goals with the former France skipper in the goalscoring charts.
He needed a single goal to become the new goalscoring king for France, and he did that as Les Bleus beat Poland 3-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The other two goals were netted by Kylian Mbappe who is undoubtedly a strong favourite to break the record now held by Giroud in the near future.

Giroud is arguably one of the most underrated strikers in the world but he has shone wherever he has played including in international tournaments for France.

The 36-year-old made his debut for France in 2011 aged 25 after having not represented the country at youth level.
He scored his first international goal for France in an international friendly against Germany in 2012, scoring in his team’s 2-1 win the day.
