World Cup 2022: How many goals have been scored so far?

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is in the quarter-finals stage following the conclusion of the Last 16 round on Tuesday night.

FIFTY SIX of the 64 matches allocated for this World Cup have already been played, meaning there are EIGHT matches left for the champions to be crowned.

And that’s FOUR quarter-final matches, two semi-final games, a third/fourth play-off match and a final.

It is worth noting that SEVEN of the teams that topped their groups are in the quarter-finals except for Japan who crashed out on penalties at the hands of Croatia in the Last 16.

Those teams are Netherlands, Argentina, England, Morocco, France, Brazil, and Portugal with Croatia the only team in the Last 8 that finished second in their group.

Now, the South African website takes a look at how many goals have been scored in ALL the 56 matches played so far in Qatar.

HOW MANY GOALS HAVE BEEN SCORED IN QATAR SO FAR?

The group stages had 48 matches, and they produced 120 goals with Spain and England contributing immensely in that regard.

However, that’s the most goal-shy tournament since the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa where 101 goals in 48 matches.

Now, so far, 148 goals have been scored in this World Cup tournament going into the quarter-finals stage, and chances are there will be more goals in the remaining eight matches.
