The 2022 FIFA World Cup is in its semi-final stage, and the remaining four teams are guaranteed a whopping R434 million no matter what happens from here.

It is worth mentioning that the tournament kicked off with a bang as teams such as Spain and England won with huge goal margins in their opening matches.

The knockout stages have seen a decline in goalscoring margins with Portugal and Switzerland match (6-1 win for Cristiano Ronaldo’s team) producing the highest scoring encounter.

HOW MANY GOALS HAVE SEEN IN QATAR FIFA WORLD CUP?

The group stages of this year’s World Cup together with the Round of 16 produced 148 goals, and that’s in 56 matches in total.

The quarter-finals increased that tally by 10 goals, and thus taking the number of goals scored to 158 with Argentina and Netherlands producing the highest-scoring contest (2-2).

This global showpiece is 13 goals shy of equaling the joint-hjghest scoring World Cups (171 both in France 1998 and 2014 in Brazil).

The previous FIFA World Cup in Russia produced 169 goals, and that’s just 11 more than the number of goals scored so far.
