World Cup 2022: Cameroon goalkeeper expelled from the camp

Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana has reportedly been expelled from the team’s base in Qatar after breaching disciplinary rules in the camp.

According to reports in Cameroon, Onana got into a heated disagreement with the technical team over his playing style.

Further reports claim that Rigobert Song and his technical team were not happy with Onana’s performances and asked him to get his act together.

However, Onana didn’t take it well and took the Cameroon technical team on, and after efforts to resolve the matter amicably, FECAFOOT took the decision to temporarily suspend him.

“The Cameroon Football Federation hereby informs the public that following Mr. Rigobert Song Bahanag’s decision, head coach of the Indomitable Lions, the player Andre Onana has been temporarily suspended from the group for disciplinary reasons,” reads a statement.

“The Cameroon Football Federation reiterates its full support to the head coach and his entire staff as they implement the federation’s policy aimed at preserving discipline, solidarity, complementarity and cohesion within the national team.

“FECAFOOT further reaffirms its commitment to create a peaceful atmosphere for the team and to provide them with adequate facilities for an outstanding performance.”
