Lionel Messi sent a packed Lusail Stadium into ecstasy in the 23rd minute of the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.

Argentina took the lead thanks to an expert Lionel Messi PENALTY kick which sent Hugo Lloris the wrong way.

Ousmane Dembele was adjudged to have fouled Angel Di Maria in the box and the referee didn’t hesitate to point to the penalty spot.

Deschamps wary of global Lionel Messi love

“I know Argentinian fans and maybe some French people would hope Lionel Messi can win the World Cup but we are going to do everything to achieve our objective.” France coach Didier Deschamps said as quoted by Express.

“I often get that feeling but I am fine being alone, that doesn’t bother me. Most fans will probably support Argentina because they are Argentinian.

“Or will be supporting that team (because of Lionel Messi). There will be a very festive atmosphere, as Argentinians are a very passionate people.

“They get behind their team and that is a positive thing, it is good to have an atmosphere like that in a World Cup final.”
