FIFA World Cup: TWO teams already eliminated from tournament

We haven’t yet completed the second round of group matches at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but already two nations have been eliminated.

In Group A, hosts Qatar have lost their opening two fixtures and cannot mathematically progress to the Round of 16.

Qatar lost 2-0 to Ecuador in the first clash of the tournament and then went down 3-1 to Senegal, leaving them point-less with just one match remaining.

Qatar will take on the Netherlands in their final match on Tuesday, 29 November at 17:00 (SA time).

Meanwhile, in Group F, Canada have also been eliminated after they lost 1-0 to Belgium in their opening match and 4-1 to Croatia.

The Canadians will wrap up their tournament against Morocco on Thursday, 1 December at 17:00 (SA time).

More casualties will join Qatar and Canada in the coming days as the 32 teams that started the tournament are halved for the next Round of 16 knockout stage.
