Mamelodi Sundowns’ latest signing Ronwen Williams has shared his thoughts after making the move to the DStv Premiership champions.

Ronwen Williams has enjoyed an illustrious career at SuperSport, where he has amassed over 250 appearances at a club where he has been based for over a decade. However, he is now officially set to join perennial DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

“SuperSport United FC and Mamelodi Sundowns have agreed terms for the permanent move of Bafana Bafana and club captain Ronwen Williams with immediate effect for an undisclosed fee,” SuperSport said via a statement.

Williams has elaborated on the decision to join Sundowns, and why he opted make the move.

“I feel amazing, there is a lot of excitement, finally I’m here. I’m happy to be part of such a prestigious team in South Africa and in Africa as a whole, I feel at home already,” he said, as quoted by iDiski Times. “Sundowns has a wonderful record of adding trophies, I am looking forward to adding to the trophy cabinet.

“I have seen the Yellow Nation at the stadium, I’ve witnessed the atmosphere that they create for the players, they really are the 12th man and I’m excited to play for them – I am going to give my utmost best.

‪”I’ve been in the game for such a long time, I’m ready for the challenge and I’m ready to add on the quality that is here,” he added in his announcement video.

“They’ve got a winning mentality and you can sense it. Like they say the Sky is the limit. It’s a dream come true for me I can’t wait to play in front of the Masandawana fans, let’s see good things coming.”

Williams also sent a farewell message to his former team: “First and foremost I would like to thank the chairman Mr Khulu Sibiya for allowing me to be part of such a wonderful club for so many years and for taking good care of me. To the club’s CEO Mr Stanley Matthews, I will forever be indebted to you and for each and every promise you made to me you have successfully fulfilled, I will forever be grateful to you as well as the board.

“To each coach and staff members at the academy, I will not be where I am today without you guys, thank you so much for playing a major role in my career. To my entire SuperSport United family, I can’t thank you guys enough. Ronwen Williams is forever United.”
