The 45-year-old former Bafana Bafana and Manchester United midfielder was previously under-23 assistant coach with the Red Devils before moving to Reading to take up a post as technical coach.

He has now made the switch to join his new team, commonly known as Chivas, where Veljko Paunovic is the head coach.

A club statement read: “Club Deportivo Guadalajara is a great challenge for Veljko Paunovic, so he will need the support of highly qualified people who complement the intentions of the new Atletico coach.

“…the three assistants that ‘Pauno’ will have in Guadalajara…Claudio Arzeno, Nuno Miguel Gomes and Quinton Fortune.

“Fortune, who played for Manchester United and Atletico de Madrid in his playing career, in addition to playing in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups with the South African national team, will be in charge of the set-pieces.

“Something that has become very relevant worldwide, since it is increasingly common for teams to do damage in this way, and a resource that Chivas needs to strengthen.”
